Day 4: Explore St. Mawes & The Roseland...

Experience - Dartmoor & South Cornwall

Day 4: Explore St. Mawes & The Roseland...

After breakfast, perhaps take a gentle stroll around St. Mawes, this stylish coastal venue is one of the best loved sailing and fishing villages in Cornwall.

St Mawes is hugely popular with the yachting fraternity and boasts three boatyards with numerous moorings and anchorages for visiting craft.

The village itself is full of beautiful old fisherman’s cottages and if you explore the back streets you will enjoy the quirkiness of some of the cottages. Impressive views away from St Mawes stretch across to St Anthony’s Head, the lighthouse, and out across the Carrick Roads….Simply wonderful.

Beware - the crystal clear waters are likely to attract you! Depending on your preferences, we could arrange a sailing course /day experience, yacht charter, or boat or kayak hire. Alternatively, take a guided trip on a RIB out into the bay to spot the rich and varied wild-life…

There are several lovely beaches and villages ideal for a walk we can give you routes for – not to mention some truly lovely stretches of the coast path. The Roseland has a gentle, rolling landscape, more akin to Devon than the characteristic craggyness which many people associate with Cornwall. As such, the Roseland is a walkers dream. The compliment of cliffs, creeks, woods and beaches is quite simply beautiful.

Your personalised holiday information pack can also include information on St. Just in Roseland. This picturesque waterside church is a truly delightful spot. Local legend has it that Joseph of Arimathea as a visiting tin merchant (who, it is said, gave up his own tomb for Christ upon the crucifixion), brought his nephew Jesus to Cornwall and that they landed here…. The creek is today home to not only this lovely old church but the Oystercatcher, Curlew, Redshank, Egret and Heron.
