Exmoor has been described as one of the finest pieces of unspoilt countryside in England. Its coast boasts the highest sea cliffs in England and its magnificent moorland is host to Wild Red Deer, ponies and many other forms of wildlife, with wooded coombes filled with oak. Exmoor has, through the ages, inspired many people including noted poets, writers and politicians. Enjoy the start to your well-earned break in this beautiful National Park and be inspired!

Dartmoor has been described as southern England’s greatest expanse of wilderness. This is not to say that it is a barren empty place but rather a vast, inspiring landscape full of beauty, charm and history. Arthur Conan Doyle said “the longer one stays here the more does the spirit of the moor sink into one’s soul…” Much of the charm of Dartmoor comes from its stark scenery, granite tors and beautiful heather, but there is also a rich history here: prehistoric settlements, relics of nineteenth century quarrying, the famous prison at Princetown as well as fascinating, small country towns and villages….

Bodmin Moor has often been described as” The Hidden Heart of Cornwall”, and this is certainly true for the casual visitor to Cornwall who passes through the moor on the main artery road, the A30. But the more discerning visitor soon realises that the moor has some truly beautiful scenery, is rich with wild life, and has a fascinating history dating back more than 6000 years. Bodmin moor also provided the setting for Daphne du Maurier’s book, Jamaica Inn, as well as the backdrop for many ghost stories and legends....
