Trelissick Gardens

  • Tranquil tiered garden
  • Home to the National Collection of photinias and azaras
  • Commanding panoramic views down to Falmouth and the open sea
  • Extensive park, woodland and riverside walks

Trelissick is a magical place that will transport your imagination to days gone by. Throughout the year the 12-hectare (30-acre) garden is awash with colour, while the park has breathtaking views down towards the sea. There is a fine Georgian stable block, a shop, gallery and restaurant (the house is not open to the public), plant sales and the whole estate is encircled with woods full of wonderful walks. This tranquil garden and estate is renowned for its glorious position at the head of Carrick Roads, with panoramic views down the estuary towards Falmouth and the sea. Perched at the head of the Fal Estuary, Trelissick boasts jaw-dropping views and a huge array of plant species.Quite literally at the water“s edge, you can catch the ferry from Truro, Falmouth or the Roseland Peninsula to land at this waterside garden and exotic wonderland. At its heart, the 20-acre garden itself is a year-round display of colourful blooms, noted for its camellias, rhododendrons and a collection of photinia and azaleas - together with many rare varieties of hydrangea and a newly-established Cornish apple orchard.Walks through 500 acres of riverside woods and parkland sweeping down to the water“s edge can be enjoyed all the year round. The facilities at Trelissick are fantastic, making it a very family friendly day out in the great outdoors. There“s plenty of room to let the kids run wild, and you can lead their imaginations across the globe as you discover foreign trees and shrubs collected on worldwide wanders.Dogs are allowed in the woodland area only.
