Salcombe must be one of the most beautiful harbour towns in the world, situated in the South Hams, at Devonīs most southerly tip. Salcombe attracts visitors from all over the world at all times of year to enjoy many coast and country activities. Famous as a centre for sailing, diving and fishing the estuary has many sheltered, sandy beaches and is a base for walkers and others with a love of nature.

The Salcombe harbour is a safe haven for visiting yachts and is a centre for sailors of all ages and abilities. The Town and Yacht Club hold Regatta weeks for many types of sailing craft and there are a number of opportunities for boat hire and tuition.

A stroll down Fore Street in Salcombe will reveal the various, high quality, food shops together with clothes, household interior and gift shops. In addition to these there are two banks and a Post Office. Chandlers and general boating/camping supplies can be found in the Island Street area of the town. Several art galleries are located nearby showing the work of local amateur and professional artists.

There are a wide range of dining options in Salcombe and the surrounding area. These include excellent restaurants, cosy pubs, and coffee shops; some with al-fresco facilities and some catering especially for young families. All provide the best in local fish, meat and vegetables.

You can hire a sailing dinghy and small motorboat to explore the estuary and creeks. For the more adventurous you can enjoy a fishing trip to really appreciate the wonderful coastline around the area. From powerboat lessons and surfing to a leisurely stroll on the coastal footpath, you will find something for everyone in Salcombe. If the weather should be inclement, a visit to the National Trust Overbecks is well worth a visit.
