• Excellent walking
  • Long sandy beaches
  • Close to Plymouth

Freathy Beach lies just below the village of Freathy mid-way along the sandy arc of Whitsand Bay. Car parking is available at Sharrow Point which is nearby and the coastal footpath alternates between the quite narrow, busy roads and the cliffs. Quite popular in summer due to the visitors from nearby Plymouth, the skyline is dominated by the shape of Rame Head to the east. Due to its south facing aspect the beaches here can be really quite a suntrap in summer.

Close to St Anthony’s House and Mount Edgcumbe and the Mount Edgcumbe Country Park it is also within easy reach of Plymouth via the passenger ferry at Cremyll. Freathy village is very popular with holiday visitors and the beaches along this coastline are long and sandy, facing west to get the last of the summers sun.

Freathy village is home to a variety of wooden chalets scattered over the hillside , these are available to hire for long weekends or extended holidays and make a perfect base for walkers. Popular walks in this area are from Freathy to Portwrinkle and Whitsand Bay and also to Polperro. Along these walks you will pass by the MOD land at Tregantle fort – this is well sign posted for when live firing is taking place – can be quite exciting !
