Boconnoc Estate

Boconnoc Estate

  • Open for charity 4 Sundays a year
  • Events Diary on web site
  • Deer and 20 acres of garden

Three miles east of Lostwithiel you will find the Boconnoc Estate, a recently restored historic family home. Open to the public for only four Sundays each year but with events in-between it is worth coinciding your stay with one of these open days.

This 18th century house has one of Cornwall’s best spring gardens including camellias and azaleas from the original 1850 planting and hosts an annual Spring Garden Show which is hugely popular. You can actually stay on the estate in a choice of three self-catering holiday cottages; the Groom’s house, the Head Groom’s house and the School house, all of which are beautifully restored and have all modern conveniences in a beautiful location.

There are approximately 100 head of deer in the Deer Park contained within the grounds and also a garden of 20 acres, which is open in the spring for various charities. Boconnoc House and Park have been used for numerous film locations including the BBC ´Poldark´ series, Daphne du Maurier´s ´My Cousin Rachel´ and scenes from the 1993 film of ´The Three Musketeers´.

Their web site gives details of all events and opening dates and also details of their woodland services and handmade park or garden railings.
