Day 5: Explore From St. Ives to Marazion...

Experience - Cornwall & The Far West

Day 5: Explore From St. Ives to Marazion...

Today perhaps explore the coast from St. Ives round to Marazion….If travelling by car the road is both engaging and interesting, allowing you to see more of this stunning coastline as we assist with advice on our ‘must-see’ stops. Naturally, we can recommend a range of good walks, en route, which pick out some of the spectacular highlights. (For longer holiday arrangements we can of course help you to walk the entire coastline).

For us there is far more to West Cornwall than Lands End and its associated attraction, although the famous Lands End ‘sign-post’ photo may be worth gaining for your holiday pictures. From your holiday information pack, let us pick out our favourite West Cornwall beaches, walks, fishing village and, if it interests you, we can help you dip into the areas of ancient history, mining or communications heritage…. We can also arrange guided tours to explore the wildlife, unique landscape, history and myths of West Cornwall – from the stone circles to iron age villages, ‘giants and spriggans’, tin mines and ‘tommy knockers’!

We can also help you get another perspective on the area by arranging scenic pleasure flights so you can get a ‘birds-eye’ view. Flights generally last 20 minutes and make for a memorable experience.

Continuing round the coast, at Newlyn and Penzance there are further art galleries we can point out, as well as a number of interesting specialist shops clustered within in Penzance…

The name ‘Pen Sans’ in Cornish translates as ‘Holy Headland’ and refers to the headland west of the present day harbour where, over 1,000 years ago, St. Anthony’s chapel was founded by the first Christians in the area. The earliest evidence of settlement however comes much earlier from the Bronze Age. Through the medieval period the area gained greater prominence, in particular for markets held by royal assent, before a harbour first emerged around the early 1300’s….

If Penzance, as ‘capital’ of the far west captures your imagination we can help pick out the best bits and give a deeper insight to the town and surrounding area than most visitors will gain. We can also arrange fishing trips, scenic coastal cruises, boat charter, diving and waterborne safaris, where informative guides give an insight and commentary to the marine wildlife and coastal sights.
