Day 3: Explore Dartmoor Villages...

After a lovely breakfast and a relaxed start to the day, why not spend today enjoying a leisurely time in some of Dartmoor’s classic small towns and villages, starting with the quaint town of Buckfastleigh. In the town’s narrow streets we can show you such gems as “The Valiant Soldier”, a tiny pub where “time” was never called! Using your holiday information pack we will help guide you to the best sights and experiences in and around the town.

Just a stone’s throw along the A38 from Buckfastleigh is the delightful little stannary town of Ashburton. If you are interested in antiques then this is the place for you!

Back on the Moor, north of Ashburton, is the world famous Dartmoor village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Everyone knows of Widecombe Fair, but, with our help, there are other fascinating facts relating to Widecombe that you can discover!

The pretty little village of Ponsworthy is on the way to another well-known landmark of Dartmoor…….Princetown. The famous prison here was built in 1806 to house French prisoners of war and was so named because the land used was donated by the then Prince of Wales. Your holiday information pack will help you find out more about these fascinating places.

Should you prefer we can also organise many other activities for you such as fishing, shooting, caving and rock climbing or simply follow another delightful moorland walk we can provide
